MSHS honors spring athletes

Mahomet-Seymour spring sports wrapped up their respective seasons, culminating in the annual awards ceremony May 23 that was split into a pair of gatherings to accommodate regional conclusions.

“We had the privilege recognizing the over 200 student-athletes who participated in our spring sports programs,” Athletic Director Matt Hensley said.

Bulldog wrestlers look forward to season

While natural attrition due to graduation always recalibrates a new season, unforeseen departures can suddenly recast a squad from experienced to young. In the case of Mahomet-Seymour though, the wrestling work ethic will be at it again to counter-balance the two.

Mahomet-Seymour Class of 2011 graduates Brandon Fritz and John Prillaman signed respective letters of intent June 28 to play soccer for Central College in Pella, Iowa, and run cross-country for Danville Area Community College.


Track, softball get all-area nods

Bulldog softball and boys’ track recently collected all-area selections from the News-Gazette, with eight tabbed for the former and a team-high 14 for the latter, which was the most by far representing any other area team.
