Donnelle Chaplin

MAHOMET — Donnelle "Don" Dean Chaplin, 89, passed from this world at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital. Don donated his body to medical research, so no service was held.

Don was born June 17, 1928, in Urbana. His father, Charles Chaplin; mother, Opal; and wife, Gloria, all preceded him in death.

Don was a state champion wrestler at Urbana High School and was inducted into the Urbana High School "Hall of Fame" in 1998. Don graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor of science in physical education. Mr. Chaplin served in the U.S. armed forces, where he achieved the rank of sergeant. He took part in the nuclear bomb testing that took place in Yucca Basin, Nev., in 1953 and was featured in an article about these nuclear tests in the Chicago Sun Times in March of that year.

Don married his wife, Gloria Jean O'Neal, in Champaign. He is survived by two sons, Kelly C. Chaplin of Mahomet and G.D. (Gary) D. Chaplin of Clarendon Hills.

Don was employed as an insurance agent with Country Companies for 35 years and retired in 1993. He enjoyed watching White Sox baseball, was a University alumnus and formerly served as a trainer for the Illinois football team.

Cynthia Johnson

VILLA GROVE — Cynthia "Cindy" L. Johnson, age 53, of Villa Grove died at 3:47 a.m.Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2018, in the Villa Grove Cemetery. Pastor Duane Piercy officiated. There was no visitation. Joines Funeral Home, Illinois 130 South, Villa Grove, handled arrangements.

Cindy was born April 7, 1965, in Danville, a daughter of Melvin R "Sonny" and Bonnie J (Riddell) Condiff. She married Greg Johnson on June 12, 1986. He died April 8, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Jenna (Jason Garner) Uptmor and Jill (Shawn Hildreth) Johnson, both of Villa Grove; four grandchildren, Kyndra, Trey, Ella and Bentley; one brother, Melvin R (Joann) Condiff of Cookeville, Tenn.; three sisters, Beneta (Kenny) Schweighart of Savoy, Terri (Mark) Greger of Villa Grove and Tammi (Ted) Collins of Mahomet.

Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Greg, brother Mike and her parents.

Cindy worked for Carle Health Alliance as a computer system configurater. Cindy was a devoted mother and grandma. She was a very sweet and kind person. She was loved by all of her friends and most of all her family.

Donna Jordan

MONTICELLO — Donna Jean Jordan, 65, of Monticello passed away at 9:55 p.m. Sunday (May 27, 2018) at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Donna was born July 20, 1952, in Decatur, the daughter of William and Ruth E. (Cook) Jordan.

Donna is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Harter of Illiopolis and Geneva Jordan of Decatur; sister-in-law, Jean Jordan of Mahomet; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Donna was a janitor at Jan-San Supply Company.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Piatt County Mental Health Center.

Larry Joe McElhaney

HOOPESTON — Larry Joe McElhaney, 71, of Hoopeston passed away Wednesday (May 23, 2018) at home.

He was born Sept. 12, 1946, in Danville, to Dale LeRoy and Maxine (Farrell) McElhaney.

He is survived by his mother of Danville; sister, Sherry Johnson (Phil) of Oakwood; children, Kelly McElhaney of Homer, Dale McElhaney of Mahomet and David McElhaney (Dakorie) of Urbana; eight grandchildren, Brian and Jack Rushing, Jake and Emma McElhaney and Gabriel, Damon, Chloe and Nathan McElhaney; nephew, Mark Toler of Danville; and niece, Marci Toler of Catlin.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Larry graduated from Danville High School in 1964 and married Vearlina Rae Smith (divorced) on Sept. 17, 1966. He enlisted in the Navy in 1968, served his country for four years and was honorably discharged.

He worked in the commercial refrigeration and air conditioning industry in Illinois and California. An avid supporter of President Trump, he enjoyed fishing, working around the house, his family and discussing the news of the day. He will be missed by his friends and family.

A celebration of Larry's life was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Danville. Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. He was laid to rest in Danville National Cemetery.

Ginny Muhich

MAHOMET — Ginny Muhich, 71, of Mahomet died at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday (May 29, 2018) at home. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana.

Richard Partenheimer

MAHOMET — Richard Partenheimer joined our Lord on Wedbesday (May 23, 2018) at 10 a.m. He passed in his home with family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers and sister.

He leaves his wife, Edith Partenheimer of Mahomet; son, Michael of Mahomet; two daughters, Susan (Randy) of Bellflower and Sandra (Greg) of Mahomet; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends greeted the family Thursday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mahomet Church of the Nazarene, 702 County Road 200 E, Mahomet.

Daniel L. Steinhart

MAHOMET — Daniel L. Steinhart, 54, of Mahomet passed away at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday (May 22, 2018) in the emergency room at OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.

Daniel was born July 20, 1963, in Kankakee, to David Louis and Evelyn M. Buckstein Steinhart. He married Kimberly Lynn Long on June 14, 1986, in Danville. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Evelyn Steinhart; one daughter, Ashley (Cody Bebout) Steinhart of Seymour; one brother, Don (Amie) Steinhart of Plymouth, Minn.; one sister, Sandy Tefft of Salem, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Brooks Bebout and Casen Bebout.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Daniel worked in construction for over 20 years. He enjoyed old cars, playing cards with buddies, and attending his kids and grandkids activities.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Catlin. Don Steinhart officiated. Memorials may be made to the family in care of First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust at a branch near the donor. Robison Chapel, Catlin, handled the arrangements. Online condolences at
