Mahomet American Legion Post 1015 will observe Memorial Day with a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Riverside cemetery, off of Illinois 47.
Members of the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary will salute their fallen comrades and ask Mahomet citizens to pause and remember America’s fallen sons and daughters on the upcoming Memorial Day.
The speaker will be Matt Kreeb of Fisher. He was a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for two years. Also, there will be a tribute of 150 years for the Civil War veterans.
Those attending are urged to bring their lawn chairs. After the ceremony, the members of Post 1015 invite all those in attendance to the Post home for refreshments.
The Legion would like to thank Mahomet IGA and Ladies Auxiliary for furnishing those refreshments. If rain occurs, the ceremony will be held at the Post home on Main Street. Any questions can contact Mike Dyson at 202-1415.
