Mahomet-Seymour baseball tuned up for the Corn Belt Tournament--where it is the top seed--with a 13-2, five-inning home win against Armstrong-Potomac on senior night May 1. Pitchers Thomas Wolgemuth and Cody Hennigh were honored for their contributions to the Bulldog program.
"It was a great night to honor our seniors,"Coach Nic DiFillipo said. "Thomas picked up the win on the mound, and Cody came in to get the last out, a pickoff at first base. It was a great senior night for M-S."
Sophomore centerfielder Cully Day went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs batted in and three runs scored; sophomore second baseman Tyler Francisco 2-for-2 with a double, three RBI and two runs; and freshman shortstop Joe Kenney 1-for-3 with a two-run homerun, three RBI and a run.
"Ryan (Walters) had a nice drive into the gap," DiFilippo said of the junior filling in at second and going 1-for-1 with a double.
