MAHOMET — Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in them after several car burglaries were reported at various locations in and near the village.

According to the Mahomet Police Department, three burglaries of items from autos were reported to the MPD overnight July 7 to July 8. Officer John Paulo Alfonso said Champaign County Sheriff’s Office deputies took additional reports of personal items being stolen from unlocked vehicles during that same period outside of village limits.

“They were all unlocked,” Alfonso said of the cars that were burglarized. “Lock your doors.”

The MPD advises residents to lock their belongings up and keep valuables out of sight.
