MAHOMET — Mahomet-Seymour schools have been ranked the 2020 No. 1 school district in Champaign County and No. 26 in Illinois by Niche, joining only two other downstate school districts in the Top 30 rankings.

We’re also so extremely proud of our entire staff — teachers, paraprofessionals, other support staff and our administrators who support and carry out the vision of excellence each and every day,” Max McComb, board of education president, said in a press release Monday. “We enjoy and appreciate the tremendous support for our schools that is demonstrated by our parents and community, both of which greatly contributes to the success of all of our schools.”

According to Niche, the 2020 Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, public school district ratings and more.

Mahomet-Seymour schools earn an overall ranking of A+ from Niche.com. The district earns A+ in academics, teachers, college prep and health and safety. It earns lower marks in two categories: B+ in clubs and activities and C in diversity. The site also ranks the district No. 9 out of 643 Safest School Districts in Illinois and No. 13 out of 638 Districts with the Best Teachers in Illinois.
