MAHOMET — A hot but breezy day was busy at the Lake of the Woods Golf Course on Friday, June 28, thanks to participants in the 36th annual Bulldog Open Golf Outing to support Mahomet-Seymour school district athletics programs.

Matt Hensley, assistant principal for extracurricular activities for the district, said attendance was about on par — pun intended — with past years at almost 90 golfers, who each paid $100 for the festivities and chances to win prizes.

Among the golfers was the foursome of Shawn Stahl of Champaign, Kevin Seaman of Champaign and father-son duo Ed and Kyle Ogle, both of Mahomet.

“It’s a little bit warm, but the breeze is keeping it cool and it’s a good day out here,” said Stahl, who said he comes out for the Bulldog Open each year.

Kyle Ogle graduated from M-S High School in 2011, so he had perhaps the closest ties to Bulldog athletics of this foursome.

“We’ve lived here a little over 25 years,” Ed Ogle said. He’s a former junior varsity football coach, and Kyle also has coached for the Bulldogs.

Kyle Ogle said he was enjoying the outing.

“It’s going well,” he said. “It’s a nice day.”

“Could be playing better but, you know, just having fun with our friends here.”
