It is difficult to improve throughout the season and prepare for the end-of-the-season sectional meet when meets keep getting cancelled.
The Mahomet-Seymour boys' swim team had back-to-back Saturday meets postponed because of inclement weather.
Last Thursday, though, the Bulldogs were able to squeeze in a weekday triangular meet in Olympia.
The Bulldogs placed second behind LaSalle-Peru and ahead of host Olympia.
Dalton DeMay and Max Katz placed first and second, respectively, in the 1-meter dive. DeMay, who holds the school record, scored a 204.04, and Katz's dives totaled a 191.73.
The Bulldogs fielded 200-yard freestyle teal teams.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of William Larson, Ryan Whitehouse, DeMay and Evan Herriott was runner up with a time of 1:45.18.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team Reed Maase-Mueller, Gavin Williams, Joey Wanninger and Levi Frost took fifth at 2:07.44.
The Bulldogs also fielded two 200-yard medley relay teams.
The medley team of Whitehouse, Larson, Gavin Groff and Herriott placed third with a time of 2:01.95.
The medley team of Max Katz, DeMay, Zachary Orr and Levi Frost took fourth place at 2:212.29.
The two Bulldog relay teams in the 400-yard freestyle placed third and fourth.
The third-place team of Groff, DeMay, Katz and Herriott swam a 4:02.79, and the second-team of Maase-Mueller, Frost, Jennings and Orr swam a 4:34.20.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Groff and Ben Jennings finished third and fourth, respectively, with times of 2:09.00 and 2:27.80.
Groff also took third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:00.44, and Frost followed in fourth with a time of 6:48.64.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Larson placed third with a time of 2:25.65, and Orr trailed in fourth with a time of 2:46.03.
Larson also placed third in the boys' 100-yard fly with a time of 1:12.48.
Orr swam a 1:22.11 in the 100-yard breaststroke for third, and Gavin Williams swam a 1:34.40 for fourth.
Whitehouse took third with a time of 27.24 in the 50-yard freestyle, and Wanninger placed sixth at 30.64.
Herriott placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.46, and Katz followed in fourth at 1:00.82.
Matthew Williams swam the 100-yard backstroke in 1:19.26 for second place, and Jennings followed in fourth swimming a 1:29.54.
In the next two weeks, M-S is scheduled to compete in three meets before entering the boys' swimming and diving sectional at Centennial High School.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to compete against Urbana, Central Catholic and Pontiac in a quadrangular meet at Urbana Indoor Aquatics Center on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Tuesday M-S is set to travel to Kankakee High School, and then the Bulldogs are scheduled to enter the Olympia Invitational at Olympia Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10:30 a.m.
The sectional meet at Centennial High School is set for Saturday, Feb. 16.
