MAHOMET — Mahomet-Seymour softball saw their season come to a heartbreaking end in the Class 3A regional championship game to a great Charleston team. The Bulldogs finished the season with 18 wins, and the future is incredibly bright as seven starters will return next year.

After collecting its 12th win in an exciting comeback, Mahomet-Seymour softball stayed there to end the regular season, as silent bats were unable to move the number to a baker’s dozen and give four seniors an exiting home victory.

Mahomet-Seymour softball fell at Bloomington Central Catholic May 10 in a non-league game, falling to 11-18 overall.BCC 14, Bulldogs 12.  After nipping the Saints 4-3 at home in mid-April, the Bulldogs were the ones who got nipped this time around in a wild and woolly night.

The 2011 Mahomet-Seymour softball edition benefited from its up-and-down past to cover all of the bases for the present and future.  The Bulldogs tripled its win column to 15 last year and came within an eyelash of a regional title.

The Mahomet-Seymour Fastpitch Association formed roughly 12 years ago with one team.  Now the organization has expanded to include one or more teams at each of the following age groups 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 under.
